Post-Surgery Clinic Volunteer (PSCV)

Shifts Available: Weekday evenings from 3-7 pm

Purpose of Position: To assist the veterinary staff in the care of post-surgical animals and to help with evening clinic duties. This position is fast-paced and calls for a volunteer with good animal handling skills and quick learning skills. Post-Surgery Clinic Volunteers move animals back to the main shelter after surgery, clean kennels, and maintain the cleanliness of the clinic during their shift. This position will have contact with animals that have recently had surgery.

Duties:

  • Moving animals after surgery
    • Walking dogs
    • Handling cats
    •  Setting up kennels
    • Feeding some animals
  • Clean kennels
  • Assist with laundry
  • Sweep and mop
  • Performs other duties assigned by the clinic staff

Requirements: This position requires a minimum volunteer commitment period or special skills/previous animal handling experience to qualify. Volunteers in this position are exposed to various cleaning agents. This position includes bending, lifting (up to 35 lbs), walking and using stairs, repetitive motion, and standing for significant periods of time.

Training Required: Orientation/Dog and Cat Skills/On-the-job training
