Meet Rudransh
Enriching the PAWS dog yards!
When Rudransh reached out to PAWS looking for a project to earn his Eagle Scout award, he was originally thinking of making dog toys for the shelter. However, when he was presented with the opportunity to tackle an unusual project instead, he jumped at the chance! The project? Constructing tire play structures for the dog yards!
Rudransh had a big job ahead of him! He had to design multiple play structures that would hold up under daily use by playful pups, as well as the ability to be disassembled and moved easily. He also had to do some research to find paint that would be not only safe for dogs, but would also stand up to the cleaning agents PAWS uses regularly.

While there were several phases to this project, Rudransh’s favorite part was about community. “My favorite part was when all volunteers worked together to paint the tires.”
When asked what advice he would give to other kids that want to help the animals, he said, “I would advise other kids to be kind to animals and respect them. Animals give unconditional love. If possible, adopt a rescued animal. Other ways to help are donate to your favorite or closest animal shelter to help the rescued animals receive necessary medical care and their other needs are met.”

After nearly a year of planning and building, Rudransh has no regrets about tackling such a unique project. “I am very thankful to PAWS for trusting me with the project. I am glad I went with the play-structures. I enjoyed every aspect of the whole experience. I really hope that the animals enjoy playing in the play-structures.” We know the dogs are going to love them and we’re so excited to see these play structures put to good use for years to come!
