Meet Lucy
Bringing big dreams to life!
Lucy, a dedicated Girl Scout and lifelong animal lover, has turned her passion for animal welfare into a powerful resource for education! Over the course of two years of collaboration with PAWS, she wrote and illustrated A Cat’s Purpose: The Importance of Indoor Cats – a children’s book that teaches about the dangers outdoor cats face and the benefits of keeping pet cats indoors. Lucy created this book for her Girl Scout Gold Award project, which must target an issue in your local community.

It was important to Lucy that she partner with an organization that is as passionate about helping animals as she is. Lucy loves that her project allowed her to be creative, while also educating people in a positive way. The book even includes additional information and statistics about outdoor cats and their impact on the environment!
.
When asked what advice she gives to other kids like her that want to help the animals, she said, “What’s difficult is finding a way in which you can make an impact. Collaboration is a very important step in helping. Knowing that what you do will help animals in the future is the best motivation. Whenever I got stuck on my project, I reached out for help and talked with multiple people who gave me ideas on how to apply my strengths to my project.”
