Rue
Rue was my first dog, and I swear it was love at first sight! I’ve always loved hound dogs. She was incredibly shy, and we had to do our meet-and-greet in the intake room because she wouldn’t go outside. She was an owner surrender and was five years old when I adopted her.

I had Rue for 10 years, and she was the sweetest, silliest dog. She loved to hide in the bathtub and sleep under the covers at the foot of the bed (she was an excellent foot warmer!). She had a silly bark–bay combination that she used when she was excited. She developed old dog vestibular disease in her later years, but her head tilt didn’t stop her from getting goofy zoomies (and promptly tipping over). She loved pup cups, cuddling with her best dog friends, and treats. She was the best girl and made me so very happy. She passed away at age 15, and I was with her until the end.
Now, I volunteer at PAWS and have fostered over 10 dogs through PAWS. One of the kennels in the CAS is sponsored by my family in Rue’s honor.
