PAWS

Animal Testing

PAWS is opposed to the use, abuse and exploitation of animals for human benefit, therefore PAWS is opposed to the use of animals for both cosmetic testing and medical testing and research. While we do not currently have an active campaign on animal testing, we continue to support the efforts of both local and national organizations working to end this exploitation and abuse of millions of animals.

For more information on the topic and local efforts against animal testing, please see Northwest Animal Rights Network (NARN) at www.narn.org.

For more information on medical and cosmetic testing, including fact sheets on the many alternatives to testing on animals, please visit:

National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS) at www.navs.org

In Defense of Animals (IDA) at www.idausa.org

For information on animal testing and cosmetic ingredients, please visit the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Web site at www.peta.org. For a list of companies that test their products on animals, visit www.peta.org/mall/cc/cctest.html.

For information and a guide to health charities that do and do not fund animal research, visit the American Anti-Vivisection Society Web site at www.aavs.org.

For statistics on the types and numbers of animals used every year in research, and to read studies concerning unrelieved pain and distress in laboratory animals, visit the extensive Animals in Research section of The Humane Society of the United States' (HSUS) Web site: http://www.hsus.org/ace/11348.
