Wildlife Bird Nursery Caretaker

Position description: Volunteers spend their shift hand-feeding nestling and juvenile songbirds (such as robins and chickadees), cleaning cages, keeping birds clean, preparing baby bird food, monitoring the health of the birds, and keeping all nesting materials clean.

Dates Available: May 1 through September 15 (end date variable, dependent on patient numbers)

Sunday through Saturday: 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 12:15-5:15 p.m., 5-9 p.m.
Volunteers are scheduled to work the same shift every week.

Time commitment: A weekly shift until the Bird Nursery closes for the season (refer to dates and shifts listed above).

Location: PAWS Wildlife Center, Lynnwood, WA

Training required: Wildlife Bird Nursery Caretakers are required to attend:

  • A volunteer orientation.
  • A basic skills training session before beginning their shift.
  • A Wildlife Ethics Workshop within their first three months of volunteering.
