You have the power—every voice matters for animals!
Humane Lobby Day in Olympia, WA
The 2017 session of the Washington State Legislature officially kicked off on Monday, January 9, and ran through Friday, April 21. A special session to focus on the budget was called after the regular session ended.
During the regular session, PAWS monitored bills that impacted animals and you can see what happened to those bills by visiting our Legislative Watch page.
During any legislative session, you can also keep track of bills by visiting the legislature home page. Bills that are going through the House of Representatives start with the letters “HB” while bills going through the Senate start with the letters “SB.” When a bill has another “S” in front of it, this means it is a substitute version of the bill.
Visit the Washington State Legislative homepage to learn more about how bills become laws.
Remember, legislators and policy makers need to hear your voice so they know that animal welfare issues are a priority, so reach out to them and share your thoughts!
