PAWS Cat City Assistant

Position description: PAWS Cat City is an adoption-only center located in Seattle's University District. The cats stay in rooms rather than cages. Volunteers there assist staff with nearly every aspect of the work, such as cleaning, animal care and providing customer service. This includes answering questions, reviewing adoption surveys, escorting the public into the cat rooms, and providing educational materials.

Volunteers maintain the overall cleanliness of the cat colonies, while socializing and playing with the cats. All Cat City volunteers must be able to professionally represent PAWS and our policies as they work with the public, have some computer skills and excellent customer service skills.

Volunteers should be outgoing, personable, knowledgeable (or easily trained), self-directed, comfortable with public speaking, committed to safety and willing to take initiative. Duties include: assisting the public with adoption procedures; processing adoptions; assisting with retail sales; socializing and comforting the animals; scooping litter boxes; feeding and watering the cats and kittens; ensuring the neatness of the front counter and lobby area; and assisting with laundry and dishes.

This job may require repetitious bending and lifting, and volunteers are exposed to various cleaning agents. This position has high public contact and some animal contact. This position has limited availability.
