Three Steps Toward Making a Difference
A new year means a fresh start, a second chance, an opportunity for great things to happen. In Washington State, the new year will also usher in the start of the new biennial legislative session. On January 14, 2013, the newly elected and returning state representatives and senators will meet for 105 days to consider several hundred new bills, including ones that impact the animals of our communities and our state. While many of us may be tired of thinking about politics after a long election year, the animals are counting on us to brush away the fatigue and be their strong and persistent voice. Being that voice is as easy as 1-2-3.
• Keep informed by signing up to receive the PAWS Action Line e-newsletter.
• Watch for alerts and contact your legislator about important bills affecting animals.
• Copy the PAWS team on replies you get from legislators to help us keep abreast of their positions on bills. Remember, change to help animals only happens when people like us give them a voice.
As part of our Washington State legislative efforts, PAWS co-hosts Humane Lobby Day in Olympia with partners at the Humane Society of the United States.
