The PAWS blog has been a fun way to share the many uplifting stories we see throughout the year with the people who make them possible—you, our friends and supporters. Here’s a few special tales that warmed our hearts. We hope you enjoy them.
Scooby (left) and Baby (right) were stars of the recent grand opening of the new PAWS Cat City. Because the two were such great companions, they were adopted as a bonded pair. Baby is a fan of affection, and the shyer of the duo, while Scooby is feisty and friendly. Update: These two are living it up in their new forever home, having been adopted shortly after this blog post was published.
A Seattle woman found this male Anna’s Hummingbird sitting on her doorstep January 20. She brought him to PAWS where the hummingbird was examined by our wildlife rehabilitator and veterinarian. They found hemorrhaging and swelling in his left eye, likely suffered by a window strike. Despite his injury, the hummingbird is being treated and should be released back into the wild within a week or two. Update: After a very successful rehabilitation, we are happy to report that this hummingbird was released back into the wild on February 2.
This handsome blue merle Australian Shepherd-mix came to PAWS recently in search of his forever home. Aptly named “Beckham,” (after the soccer star) the PAWS staff discovered this youngster was full of energy. He needed some basic obedience classes and LOTS of playtime to help burn off his energy, but all Beckham really longed for was someone who could “keep up.” Update: Beckham was adopted just a week after this blog post was published. We were thrilled to see this canine athlete go to his new forever home!
