When Guy and Rena Palumbo spoke to 460 guests at PAWS Wild Night on March 27, they had no idea how much their story would resonate with the audience. A photo of Roscoe, their Boxer, flashed on the screens illustrating how scrawny he was when PAWS rescued him from a homeless couple living in a car. The crowd erupted in cheers when the next photo showed Roscoe as he looks today, healthy after years of home cooked meals and loving care from the Palumbos. After their story, and an inspiring video with an original song written for PAWS, there wasn't a dry eye in the room.
Earlier in the evening, emcee and Board President John Rubino and Executive Director Annette Laico presented Fish and Wildlife Officer Bruce Richards and his dog Mishka (pictured on page 8) with the PAWS Champion for Animals award for their exceptional work for wildlife. While accepting his award Bruce said, "I always insist the animals go to PAWS."
Thanks to our sponsors, table hosts, guests, donors and volunteers for making PAWS Wild Night, a gala benefiting animals, just that—raising $300,000 for the animals and a room full of friends for life.
