Never Give Up

In early December, a kind soul found a sweet tabby with no collar or identification wandering the streets. Thinking that some family must have been missing their long-time companion, the woman brought the cat into PAWS and out of the cold. The shelter staff estimated his age at 12 years old, and named him Bombay. He was in pretty good shape for an older guy, and was very charming indeed. When no one came to reclaim him, we put him up for adoption and volunteers posted his profile online to Petfinder.com, hoping someone would be looking for a mellow cat to take home.

After a couple weeks, Bombay got a kitty cold. Staff moved him from the adoption room into the cat isolation ward to give him time to recuperate. It took Bombay some time to recover, but eventually he went back up for adoption and his profile was reposted to Petfinder.com. That's where his family, who had been searching for him the entire time, finally spotted him. They had been visiting the Everett Animal Shelter regularly, but hadn't checked PAWS in person. They were relieved to know he was safe and still here more than a month after he had gone missing.

When the family came to PAWS to pick up Bombay, they informed staff he was actually 16 years old and his name was Puff. He had lived with their family his entire life. Now realizing the importance of identification, the family took our advice and had Puff microchipped before they left for home. It was a joyous reunion for the family, for everyone at PAWS, and for Puff. Never give up when your best friend is lost!
