Wild Night: A Gala Celebration for PAWS

More than 500 compassionate community members came together to celebrate PAWS at Wild Night on Saturday, April 5. Master of Ceremonies Penny LeGate and Auctioneer David Silverman led the way for an evening of live music, gourmet vegan and vegetarian dinners, and an exciting array of silent and live auction packages.

In an inspiring show of support, the larger-than-ever crowd raised nearly $300,000 for the animals at PAWS. Without a doubt, Wild Night was an unforgettable evening.

Meet Tomorrow’s Compassionate Leaders

PAWS Executive Director, Annette Laico, presents the third annual Youth Helping Animals Award to Audrey Long and Theresa Edwards.

The presentation of the third annual Youth Helping Animals Award was a touching highlight, as twelve-year-olds Audrey Long and Theresa Edwards were honored for speaking out against puppy mills. After researching these unsanitary, imprisoning and loveless mass breeding facilities, the girls composed letters to their state legislators on the issue and urged legislation. At the invitation of Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles, they traveled to Olympia and gave a highly-praised testimony on puppy mills for the legislature and a televised audience. Upon receiving their awards, the girls again delivered poised and professional speeches, this time to the Wild Night crowd. Their work and words were inspirational, bringing hope to the hearts of everyone in the room.

The PAWS Youth Helping Animals Award was created as a way to honor a local young person aged 18 or younger for outstanding service and compassion toward animals. Nominations for the fourth annual Youth Helping Animals Award will be invited this fall.
