Dogs of all shapes and sizes romped, played and walked with their humans on September 6th to raise money for PAWS. PAWSwalk was once again held at Seattle’s Magnuson Park under sunny skies and raised more than $110,000 for the animals at PAWS.
Over 1,000 people walked the PAWSwalk route along beautiful Lake Washington. Ruby Linder-Dunmore won the top prize, a weekend at the Madison Renaissance Hotel and other assorted goodies, for her tenacity and commitment to PAWS by collecting $1,195 in pledges. Families and friends participated, many remarking that for them it’s an annual tradition. Teams of employees from Washington Mutual, Boeing and elsewhere raised money that in some cases was doubled as a result of matching gift programs. Thank you to 98.9 Smooth Jazz KWJZ and Starbucks Coffee—lead sponsors for Bark in the Park, as well as all of the other wonderful sponsors, vendors and participants, who made this day so successful.
Thousands of other people and their canine friends joined the PAWSwalkers to enjoy Bark in the Park. There was live music, and more than a hundred animal-friendly booths, demonstrations of life-saving techniques with the King County Search and Rescue dog team, and exciting presentations from animal behaviorists. While dogs nibbled on canine treats, their human friends munched on fresh popcorn and delicious vegetarian fare. Stay tuned for information about next years PAWSwalk and Bark in the Park.
On behalf of all of us, especially the animals, thank you.
