Katz for Cats

The Katz family has fostered more than 40 cats and kittens in the past several years, and they love the comfort these wonderful cats provide their family while in their care.

“We’ve seen nearly every kind of kitten this summer: tabbies, tuxedos, calicos, Siamese mixes, medium hair, long whiskers, Manx tails; we’ve had it all!” exclaims Foster Care Coordinator Rebecca Oertel. With nearly 600 kittens gracing PAWS foster homes before September even arrived, it’s no surprise there has been variety.

The four kittens in the Katz home spent three weeks being socialized, gaining weight, and enjoying the attention of 12-year-old Ben.

“Ben loves spending time with the kittens. He learns what they each like best and plays with the kittens until everyone has collapsed and they all need a nap,” explains his mom Amy. “It’s such a joy to provide the kittens with a temporary home, and it’s been a positive experience for our whole family.”

Ben says, “I’ve learned to read their body language, and they always tell the truth. We love the idea of being a ‘hero’ for the animals.”

PAWS has more than 150 foster families who are true heroes. If you want to join their ranks, visit our Foster Care page or call the PAWS Foster Care Team at 425.787.2500, x822.
