Dear Friends,
The passing of our dear friend Virginia Knouse earlier this year was a sad occasion for the PAWS family. We miss her every day. Yet, every time I see happy adopters leaving our shelter with their new best friend, and learn of all the rehabilitated wild animals who were released that day, I think of Virginia and know how fiercely proud of all of us she would be—in her quiet way—in continuing her life's work. We honor her and all those who were instrumental in building PAWS into what it is today, a safety net for all the animals who still need us.
As you are out and about this summer season, in case you encounter a wild animal who may need help, please make a note of the wildlife center's telephone number, 425.787.2500 x817, and keep it with you. Our wildlife experts will be happy to assist you.
And, although a very wise man once said "happiness is a warm puppy," if you're thinking of adding a new companion animal to your family sometime soon, please consider the many senior cats and dogs patiently waiting at PAWS who often get overlooked. I can personally report that happiness can also be an oh-so-character-ful "experienced" cat with many years of love to give!
If you or someone you know would like to help us with our busiest animal care season, we have a volunteer assignment to suit almost every schedule. Right now we need more foster families to help us care for our tiniest guests. And our wildlife team needs extra hands to help care for wild babies. Call us for more information and, please, spread the word.
Enjoy a happy and safe summer, and thank you again for being part of PAWS' family of supporters.
