Youth Spotlight: Andrew

Andrew was presented with the 2009 PAWS Youth Helping Animals Award for his incredible work and leadership towards animal welfare.

Andrew joined the Junior Volunteer Program at the Everett Animal Shelter at 13, working with his mother each week to provide care to the cats. After his initial three months, he was certified to work independently at the shelter with both cats and dogs, taking photos to help list the animals online and participating in community adoption events.

Andrew recently joined the volunteer leadership team, training volunteers and working with adults to make decisions about the future of the program. Andrew has also hosted food drives at his school, made presentations to his classmates about animal welfare and sheltering, and recently helped his family become vegetarian to benefit their health and the lives of animals.

Thank you Andrew for your outstanding service to animals in our community!
