In memory of Precious

Years ago (about 12) my then troubled teen daughter and I adopted the cat "Precious" from PAWS. We were taken with her friendly and calm manner and beautiful fur. We had originally thought to adopt a kitten, but Precious won our hearts even though she was believed to be 6 years old. Adopting her was the turning point in my relationship with my daughter. She had been staying in her room and not joining in any shared activities. When we adopted Precious, she began spending more time in the family room with Precious and me, and we began to get along much better than ever before. Sadly, about 6 years of living with Precious, she became ill and the Vet informed us there was no treatment to help her. Even though she is gone and we still miss her (we now both have adopted cats from PAWS in our homes), I will always remember how transforming it was for us to have Precious in our lives.
