Boo

Boo was found in a field in Lynnwood underneath a pile of her dead littermates. The heartbroken lady who had found her brought her to PAWS. Boo was half dead. She was freezing cold, malnourished and dehydrated. We aged Boo at 3 weeks old since her eyes were open and she had teeth (when I first saw her, I thought she was 2 days old per her size). At that age, kittens should weigh close to 1lb. Boo only weighed 4 ounces. I took her home that night and of course took pictures of her, she wasn't bigger than my thumb and her body was only 1cm wide.

For five days Boo would not eat any KMR at all. I offered her Pedialyte every hour to go along with her 5ccs of fluids and Pedialyte must taste good because that is all she tolerated in her mouth until day 5! Boo began to flourish once she got strong enough to start moving around and once she decided that KMR was a good thing. We were able to get the last bit of dirt out of her toenails that week and she actually started to play with her toys!

Boo grew up to be a very crazy kitten. She has always been a runt, but she is oh-so-sweet! She spends her days suckling her Chow-Chow and beating up all of the other fosterlings that her Mom brings home. Of course I couldn't give her up after all of that! She should not have lived but somehow while she was so sick, she found the strength to go on. I have never seen a kitten that sick survive; it's all up to them. She definitely had a purpose.... now she takes care of another kitten, which is 3 months younger than her, who will not live long due to an enlarged heart. But Boo is there to make his short life lots of fun. Yay Boo!
