Position description: The Foster Care Program at PAWS saves more than 1,000 young, sick and injured cats and dogs every year by placing them into temporary homes to be raised, to recuperate and to be socialized.
Foster Care Program Assistants must have excellent customer service skills and be able to work independently. Duties include: socializing and comforting the animals; maintaining the database of available foster volunteers; caring for neonatal kittens and puppies; arranging for placement of animals into temporary foster homes; and organizing paperwork and supplies for kittens and puppies. sweeping and mopping.
This position has equal amounts of desk work, cleaning and animal contact
Dates Available: year-round
Shifts: Afternoon Shifts: Monday through Friday 12 - 3 p.m. or 1 - 4 p.m; Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Evening Shifts: Monday through Wednesday 4 - 6:30 p.m.; Thursday through Friday 4- 7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 2 - 5 p.m. Volunteers are scheduled for the same shift each week.
Time commitment: A weekly shift for three hours for a minimum of three months.

Training required: Foster Care Program Assistants are required to attend:
- A volunteer orientation.
- A two-hour foster care training.
