Community Education Internship

Position Title: PAWS Community Education Intern

Job Description: 

This unpaid internship position requires a three month commitment; June 2013 to September 2013, 12 – 15 hours per week, between the hours 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday and various weekend events.

This position assists PAWS Community Education Coordinator in organizing and attending outreach events; preparing and delivering educational presentations; and research. This position will have a special focus on several outreach events in the Snohomish and King counties. The successful candidate will attend outreach events and presentations as scheduled during evenings and weekends, conduct research to support PAWS education program, and other tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to represent PAWS’ mission in a sincere and energetic manner.              
  • A schedule with flexibility to attend community education presentations and tabling events as needed.
  • Comfort in public speaking.
  • An outgoing personality and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with use of e-mail and Excel spreadsheets, as well as experience with word processing, and learning new software.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and have a tactful, mature, and sincere attitude.
  • Reliable transportation to and from PAWS and other locations as needed for event attendance.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Washington State driver's license with no major or repeated minor traffic offenses as well as providing proof of current 100/300 insurance coverage.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Important considerations for this position include a sincere interest and belief in the philosophy of animal welfare, as well as in interest in non-profit development.
  • Sense of humor is a must!
