New "We Love Our Pets" license plates

As part of the Washington State Federation of Animal Care and Control Agencies (the Federation), PAWS is excited to announce the launch of the new "We Love Our Pets" specialty license plate, available beginning January 3, 2006. Sales of the plates will help fund pet sterilization programs statewide. The plate features lovable characters designed by artist and author Brian Basset ("Adam@Home" and "Red and Rover"), and will be available for purchase at all Washington State vehicle licensing offices. The more plates sold, the more companion animals will be spayed or neutered throughout the state, thus reducing the number of homeless animals in need. Plate numbers are assigned sequentially, so the earlier you get your plate, the lower your plate number will be.

The original cost to purchase a plate is $40.00 plus any applicable licensing fees. When the vehicle registration comes due, you will need to pay an additional $30.00 to keep the plate on your vehicle even if you have not had the plate for a full year. Plates can be issued only to registered passenger vehicles, light duty pickups, trailers, motorcycles and campers in Washington State. Plate numbers are assigned automatically by the Department of Licensing's computer system. Beginning March 1, 2007, plates can be personalized.
