The Kittens Are Coming!
The Kittens Are Coming!

The arrival of spring brings the first litters of kittens that will need temporary foster care, and this is when the PAWS Foster Care Program could really use your help. Last year, the foster care program handled 990 kittens! Many of these kittens just needed love, care, and time to socialize with adults and children, while others had no mother and needed more intensive care, including bottle-feeding several times a day. Foster homes are especially needed in the spring and summer, when many of these orphaned kittens arrive at PAWS and stay until they mature into adoptable young cats.

What does it take to be a PAWS foster parent? The answer is as simple as this: love for animals, a little bit of time, and some space suitable for young felines. As a PAWS foster parent, you would be responsible for providing fresh food and water to your foster kittens, as well as clean litter boxes, proper toys, and lots of love and attention that will prepare these young orphans for new, permanent homes.

If your family wants to get the kids involved in a community project, or if you’re a frequent traveler who can’t have animals of your own or a professional who wants to help PAWS but can’t fit a weekly volunteer shift into your routine, the Foster Care Program may be perfect for you!
