Living Large for the Future

Now that the flurry of auction activities has drawn to a close, we are stepping up our search for the perfect site for the Large Mammal Facility (LMF). A number of sites have been considered and rejected due to size, terrain, or proximity to populated areas. Because of the specific needs for acreage and isolation from people, and the rapid growth in Washington state, we want to be sure to select the best site. Promising news is that we have identified a site that we believe will be ideal for our needs. We currently have an active proposal on the desk of the Washington State government agency which owns the land. During the lengthy review process we will continue to consider other sites as well.

With the addition of $65,000 net from the auction, we have now raised over $150,000 for the LMF. Once the land is secured, we will start with the most needed items such as a bear enclosure and caretaker quarters.
