Omak Suicide Erasers Force Corporate Withdrawls from Brutal Omak Suicide Race
What a difference the PAWS Omak Suicide Erasers have made for the lives of horses in Omak- and it's only been three weeks! After receiving letters of concern regarding the deadly Omak Suicide Race, sponsors Crown Royal, Wal-Mart and Pace Picante Sauce have confirmed to PAWS that they will be withdrawing their sponsorship of the event. NAPA Auto Parts has also written to say it "does not sponsor or condone" the Suicide Race and has made these views known to the local independently owned and operated store that does support the race.

The power of the pen (or keyboard) truly is mighty and these amazing results are proof-positive that your time and action do make an amazing difference! If you haven't already, please visit the Suicide Erasers area of the PAWS web site and find out what you can do to help. If you are a resident of Washington State, please take an additional moment to ensure you write to state and local officials, including your representative, to let them know how you feel about the fact that this horrific event is allowed to happen in our state. It's an embarrassment to Washington's standing as a caring, compassionate state and an affront to citizens and legislators who worked so tirelessly to make our state one of the most progressive in animal cruelty and abuse legislation.

Take Action to Ensure Wildlife Bridges Grace new I-90!!
The I-90 Wildlife Bridges Coalition has released its Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the benefits of including wildlife underpasses and overpasses in the state's plans to widen I-90 east of Snoqualmie Pass. I-90 cuts crucial migration paths for animals in the Cascades and threatens already stressed populations of grizzlies, gray wolves and more. The fact that animals are forced to cross the highway itself also puts humans in danger, as evidenced by last summer's deadly car crash where five lives were lost when a car on I-90 collided with an elk. The people of Washington State have invested millions in land acquisition around I-90 to keep wild areas wild and we now need to ask our government to prove its commitment to wildlife in our state, and our public's interest in it, by investing the needed money for I-90 wildlife crossings.

For contact information, more background on the I-90 Wildlife Bridges Coalition and specifics on additional things you can do to take action for Washington wildlife, please visit the I-90 Wildlife Bridges Coalition web site at http://www.i90wildlifebridges.org/action.htm.
