3rd Puppy Store Protest With Media!

Date: Saturday, January 29th, 2005
Time: 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Location: Absolutely Puppies Pet Store, 805 111 Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98004

There will be a third protest to educate the public on the reality of pet store animals and their origin in deplorable puppy mills. We also want to send the message that it is highly irresponsible to buy pet store animals while there are millions of shelter animals who desperately need homes.

Action for Animals (AFA) will be doing press releases for this event so a good turnout is very important! Please join other activists and animal lovers as we keep the pressure on Absolutely Puppies and ask their customers not to buy while shelter animals die.

History:
For the past year Action for Animals has been investigating Absolutely Puppies. They have reports from several people that Absolutely Puppies has sold sick puppies, including puppies with the highly contagious Parvovirus. Parvo can lead to "sudden" death. Due to Absolutely Puppie's secrecy with regards to the origin of the puppies they sell, it is believed the store may be buying from puppy mills.

Help Pass Bill Prohibiting Exotic "Pet" Possession
PAWS supporters were saddened to hear that HB 1151, which bans ownership of exotic and potentially dangerous wild animals, died when the last meeting of the senate closed early in 2004.

The good news is that HB 1151 is going strong in the 2005 session and needs your support to ensure it passes this time around. For more information on the history and specifics of this bill please click here.

There will be a hearing on HB 1151 before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in the House Hearing Room B of the John L. O'Brien building in Olympia. Please try to attend the hearing to show your support.

It is also crucial that you contact your Representatives to let them know you support the bill. If you do not know who your representative is, just click on the link to the left or you can call the Legislative Hotline at 1.800.562.6000 and the operator can tell you who your Senator and Representatives are.

Lastly, please contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee, who will be holding the hearing next Wednesday. Let them know you are a Washington State resident who supports HB 1151 and you would like for them to support it as well. If one of the members on the committee represents you, it is doubly important that you contact them, let them know you are a constituent, and ask for their support. HB 1151 is supported by many Representatives so be sure to thank them and as always, be polite.
